About Avon Hill Restoration

A Cambridge restoration company founded in 2017 by Spencer Burton, who still does much of the hands-on work himself.

Spencer Burton, Manager.

Spencer Burton runs Avon Hill Restoration and handles most of the hands-on work himself, including water damage cleanup, mold remediation and fire damage repair. He is IICRC certified in water restoration and applied microbial remediation, and he keeps that training current as techniques and equipment change.

He usually starts with a thorough inspection to work out how far the damage goes, then gives homeowners a clear plan and timeline, rather than guessing at the scope once work has started. On the business side he manages the scheduling, the estimates and the insurance paperwork directly, so customers are not passed between departments.

Spencer keeps a small, experienced crew rather than subcontracting jobs out, which keeps him on top of quality and timelines. He is usually on site for the bigger jobs, checking moisture readings and making sure the work meets code before anything is called finished.

A Cambridge Company Since 2017

Built to respond fast

Spencer founded the company in 2017 to respond fast when disasters happen, because every hour matters when water or smoke is spreading through a property. Since then Avon Hill Restoration has served Cambridge and the surrounding Middlesex County area, handling water damage, fire damage, mold remediation and storm damage for homeowners and businesses.

Working here means working on old buildings: triple-deckers and two-families, Victorian houses with plaster on wood lath, balloon-framed walls that carry water and smoke between floors, and basements with fieldstone foundations. Knowing how those houses behave when they get wet, and how they dry, is a large part of doing the job right. We treat every property like it is our own.

Certifications

The IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) sets the industry standards for water damage restoration and mold remediation and certifies the technicians who do the work.

Certification Issuing Body Scope
Water restoration IICRC Water damage restoration: water categories, extraction, structural drying and moisture measurement
Applied microbial remediation Mold remediation: containment, removal of contaminated materials, cleaning and checking the result

Both certifications are held by Spencer Burton, who keeps them current.

How We Work

  • Hands-on. Spencer is still involved in the day-to-day work, not only the paperwork.
  • Inspection first. A plan and a timeline come before the work, not halfway through it.
  • Insurance handled directly. We work with your insurance company to make the claim easier.
  • Professional-grade equipment for drying, dehumidification and odor removal.
  • Clear communication throughout the job, from the first call to the final walkthrough.
  • Around-the-clock emergency calls, because damage does not wait for business hours.

Company Questions

Are you licensed and insured?

Spencer is IICRC certified in water restoration and applied microbial remediation, and keeps that training current. If your insurer, landlord or condo association asks for licence or insurance paperwork for a job, ask us when you call and we will go through what they need.

Do you guarantee your work?

We do not call a job finished until the moisture readings show the structure is dry and the work meets code, and on the bigger jobs Spencer is usually on site to check that himself. If anything does not look right afterward, call us and we will take a look.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Emergency calls are answered around the clock, at any hour, any day.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. Spencer keeps a small, experienced crew rather than subcontracting jobs out. It is how he stays on top of the quality and the timeline, and it means your job stays with his own crew.

Damage happening right now?

Call us. Emergency calls are answered around the clock, and we will tell you what to do while we are on the way. For anything less urgent, send a request and we will call you back.
