Restoration Services in Cambridge

Four kinds of damage, one local crew. Find the service that fits what you are seeing, how soon to act, and what each job involves.

Our Four Services

Avon Hill Restoration has handled water damage, fire damage, mold remediation and storm damage for homeowners and businesses in Cambridge and the surrounding Middlesex County area since 2017. The work often overlaps: a fire leaves water behind, a storm becomes a leak, and a leak left alone becomes mold. One crew handles the whole job, from emergency extraction to the last repair.

  • Water Damage Restoration

Emergency water extraction, moisture mapping, drying with air movers and dehumidifiers, removal of what cannot be dried, and the repairs afterward. Clean supply-line leaks through to sewage backups.

  • Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration

Soot and smoke residue cleaning, odor removal, drying out the water used to put the fire out, and full fire damage reconstruction, with the insurance paperwork handled directly.

  • Mold Remediation

Inspection and moisture readings, containment, removal of moldy drywall, insulation and carpet pad, cleaning of the framing, drying, and a final check. The moisture source gets fixed too.

  • Storm & Wind Damage Restoration

Temporary protection after the storm (tarping and board-up), water removal and drying, and repairs to ceilings, walls, insulation and floors where wind and rain got in.

Signs You May Need Professional Restoration

Small, clean spills can be mopped up and dried with a fan. These are the signs that a job has gone past a mop and a fan and needs drying equipment, moisture readings or containment:

  • Water has been sitting for more than a day, or has soaked into walls, ceilings or carpet pad
  • The water came from a sewer, a toilet with waste, or flooding from outside
  • It reached more than one room, or came through to the floor or unit below
  • You can smell mold, or see it over more than about 10 square feet
  • Smoke residue covers more than one room, or the smell returns after cleaning
  • Water or soot is near the electrical panel, outlets or light fixtures
  • A ceiling sags, bulges or has a brown ring that keeps growing
  • Your insurance company wants moisture readings, photos and a written estimate
  • Someone in the house has asthma, allergies or a weakened immune system

The 10-square-foot line for mold comes from EPA guidance: smaller patches caused by clean water can usually be cleaned by a careful homeowner, and larger areas call for professional remediation. Our mold remediation page explains the difference.

The Work in Photos

Water and mold damage from the kind of jobs we take on. Most of it started as a leak that was not dried quickly enough.

How Every Job Starts

Whatever the damage, the work normally starts with a thorough inspection to see how far it goes, before anyone guesses at the scope. Spencer Burton, who founded the company, then lays out a clear plan and timeline, writes the estimate and handles the insurance paperwork directly. The crew is small and experienced, and jobs are not handed to subcontractors.

During the work we keep you informed: what was removed and why, how the moisture readings are coming down, and when each stage will finish. The process page walks through each step, and the service area page lists the neighborhoods and towns we cover.
