Accessibility Statement

Avon Hill Restoration wants everyone to be able to find our information and request help on this website, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Effective October 13, 2026.

Our Goal

We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content usable for people with a wide range of disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness, limited movement and cognitive disabilities.

What We Have Done

  • Every page has one main heading, headings in order, landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, and a "Skip to main content" link.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, including the phone menu, the photo slider, the FAQs, the forms and the interactive tools, and the keyboard focus is always visible.
  • Text and background colors meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, including text on buttons and in the footer.
  • Photos have text descriptions of what they show; the service-area drawing has a text description, and the same towns and ZIP codes are listed in a table.
  • Form fields have visible labels. Missing or incorrect entries are marked, explained in words and announced to screen readers, and the result of sending a form is announced too.
  • The results of the water damage severity checker and the freeze risk checker are announced to screen readers when they change.
  • Tables have header cells, wide tables become labelled blocks on phones, and phone numbers stay on one line.
  • Pages work from small phones to wide screens, and text can be enlarged without content being cut off.
  • There is no auto-playing audio or video, nothing that flashes and no time limits. The photo slider moves only when you ask it to.

How We Test

Before the website is published and after every change, each page is checked with automated tools: HTML validation with accessibility rules, Google Lighthouse accessibility audits at phone and desktop sizes, and scripted checks in Chrome that open the phone menu, submit the forms and run the tools. We also review every page by eye at desktop and phone sizes. Automated tools cannot catch everything, so we welcome reports from people who use screen readers, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.

Known Limitations

The service-area map is a simple drawing, not an interactive map; everything it shows is also in the table of neighborhoods, towns and ZIP codes on the same page. Some job photos were taken in dim basements, so their text descriptions carry the detail.
